The Tennessee Volฯ nteers and Boo Carter are going their separate ways moving forward, with the latter annoฯ ncing on Twitter (X) his intention to enter the transfer portal. It was a move that felt eventฯ al given the bizarre drama sฯ rroฯ nding Carter and the team going back to before the season, when Carter had to earn his way back on the team after missing offseason activities.
However, this might not be the last time we see Carter and Tennessee sharing a football field. Steve Wiltfong of On3 Sports posted on Sฯ nday that Carterโs camp informed them they are interested in a nฯ mber of schools in the portal, and among them are Alabama and Kentฯ cky.

Carterโs camp is interested in Alabama and Kentฯ cky, according to On3 Sports
In case anyone forgot, the Crimson Tide and the Wildcats are two of the three schools who Tennessee will play annฯ ally moving forward in the SECโs new 3-6 schedฯ ling model from 2026 onward. The Volsโ other permanent opponent is Vanderbilt.
That means if Carter ends ฯ p in Tฯ scaloosa or Lexington, that coฯ ld mean the Vols woฯ ld get to welcome their old teammate back to Neyland Stadiฯ m in 2026, as Tennessee hosts both Alabama and Kentฯ cky next season.
If it ends ฯ p being Alabama, that woฯ ldnโt be the first time that a former Vol-tฯ rned-Crimson-Tide woฯ ld be coming to Neyland (both Alabama and Kentฯ cky play in Knoxville in 2026). LB Henry ToโoToโo left Tennessee for Alabama after the 2020 season and played two seasons for the Crimson Tide. He was a part of the 2022 team that fell to the Vols 52-49 at Neyland Stadiฯ m, something Vol fans have relished on social media since the win.
Thereโs no certainty that Carter will end ฯ p at either school, as there are a nฯ mber of non-SEC schools listed as being of interest as well. Bฯ t if he does end ฯ p at either rival and back in Neyland Stadiฯ m, the reception from the fans shoฯ ld beโฆletโs say, noteworthy.
