The director and his co-star Sandra Bullock implored Reeves to return for the sequel. “I said, ‘I read the script and I can’t. Obviously, Fox wasn’t exactly thrilled. According to Reeves, the studio started spreading rumors, saying he ditched the sequel to tour with his band, Dogstar. But that’s far from the truth, he insisted.
