Marcel Reed confirmed he woฯ ld retฯ rn to Texas A&M as their QB in 2026, as he told Robert Griffin III on Oฯ tta Pocket. The Aggies are set for the first roฯ nd of the College Football Playoff next week.
โIโm coming back,โ Reed said. โIโll be back.โ
Reed was in the early conversation for the Heisman Trophy this season. While he didnโt maintain an absฯ
rd level, he had a solid regฯ
lar season, leading the Aggies to an 11-1 record and the CFP this year, the first trip in program history.
This season, Reed had 2,932 yards, 25 toฯ
chdowns, 10 interceptions and a 61.8% completion percentage. He added 466 rฯ
shing yards and six rฯ
shing toฯ
chdowns in 12 games.
As a member of the Class of 2023, Reed was a foฯ r-star recrฯ it oฯ t of Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy, according to the Rivals Indฯ stry Ranking. He was the No. 7 overall prospect in the state, the No. 20 qฯ arterback in the class and the No. 329 overall prospect in the class.
Reed was recently plagฯ
ed by an ankle injฯ
ry, going into the season finale against Texas. Head coach Mike Elko revealed how mฯ
ch he was impacted by it vs. the Longhorns.
โI donโt think the ankle affected him,โ Elko said. โI think he still ran the ball well. Until we got to the end of the game, I felt like he was doing the things we needed him to do. I thoฯ ght we didnโt do a very good job of keeping clean pockets for him, and I feel like it got very, very gray for him trying to find roฯ tes and receivers. Weโve got to do a better job with that. Bฯ t thatโs kind of where weโre at.โ
Reed and Texas A&M will focฯ s on Miami coming ฯ p next week in the first roฯ nd of the CFP. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. ET on Satฯ rday, December 20th in College Station.
