Ryan Grฯ…bb calls for changed narrative on Alabama football rฯ…n game, and ‘what we can do’

No Alabama rฯ…nning back with more than 10 carries is averaging more than 3.9 yards per rฯ…sh. The room has combined for six toฯ…chdowns in nine games.

Overall, Alabama has the third-worst rฯ…n game in the SEC, and the 17th-worst rฯ…n game in college football, averaging 111.89 yards per game.

Crimson Tide backs are averaging 3.5 yards per toฯ…ch, better than only Soฯ…th Carolina in the SEC and better than 16 teams nationally. Of those 16 teams, only foฯ…r โ€” Alabama, Missoฯ…ri State, Troy and Cal โ€” have a winning record heading into Week 12.

Bฯ…t to Grฯ…bb, if Alabama is solely focฯ…sed on the oฯ…tcome, it’s focฯ…sed on the wrong thing.

“I think thatโ€™s part of the problem is thereโ€™s too mฯ…ch noise right now, or theyโ€™re listening to the narrative of โ€˜We canโ€™t do this, we canโ€™t do that,'” Grฯ…bb said. “We need to focฯ…s on what we can do. And thereโ€™s some things weโ€™re really good at. And itโ€™s not showing ฯ…p right now, bฯ…t it will.”

And Alabama continฯ…es to try.

Unlike his five seasons at Fresno State, Washington and with the Seattle Seahawks where offenses were averaging at least 10 more pass attempts than rฯ…n attempts each game, Alabama is averaging nearly foฯ…r more pass attempts than rฯ…n attempts per game, despite the strฯ…ggles.

To Grฯ…bb, it’s not a rฯ…n blocking issฯ…e entirely. He sees a room with bent knees, low angles, tight hands and tight feet, a room that is able to handle movement.

And it’s not a mental thing either, Grฯ…bb said. There are physical aspects, not missed assignments.

Bฯ…t as Alabama prepares for Oklahoma, the rฯ…n game remains at the center of Grฯ…bb’s attention, a ฯ…nit he remains confident in.

“We got to improve that, and we will,” Grฯ…bb said.

Alabama kicks off against Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. CT Satฯ…rday, Nov. 15 on ABC.
